A special soul who gave so much warmth, love, and energy to everyone. Her ability to engage and unite, to laugh with you and not take life too seriously. A savvy business lady who knew her value and never stopped learning. Truly inspirational. Your light will continue to shine everywhere esp. in the garden. Much love always. Rest in Peace Marianne ❤️
To James and Charlotte & family, I want to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of your mum. I was very saddened to hear of her passing. I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten to know your mum over the last couple of years. Friday afternoons were a real joy, spending time and hanging out with her. I know that she was incredibly proud of you both. Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. With sincere condolences, Gaz x
Marian gave us so much love and beautiful memories and the most important thing to enjoy every moment in life. She was always there for everyone and gave everyone her love and joy. All her life lessons we will take with us. She will always be with us. Love you always.
Marianne will forever be known as the Glam Mother to our family, especially to our daughter Lilja. Remembering times shared with Marianne instantly induces visions of champagne, laughter and of course glamour but more importantly of warmth, generosity and of the way she made you feel like part of her extended family. The sound of champagne corks popping will forever evoke fond memories of times shared with Marianne. So, with that in mind, cheers to you Marianne! With love from Brandon Potter & family x
My dearest friend I think Marianne was 22 and a librarian in Marylebone , she had just had her bunion,s done and in plaster from her toes to the top of her legs , she was driving along with Barry in his MGB convertible with her legs way up over the front of the car , stopping at the Prince Reagent pub that’s when she came up to me and said ‘are you Janice let’s be friends’ ever since then I loved her dearly as my longest ,kindest and always considerate friend I will miss her so very much.🕊️

Marianne I do not know where to start. I and all my family are so proud to have known you over many years. You and your late husband Barry were enormous supporters of our business Elizabeth Rose in Tenterden. I met you and Barry for the first time at Birmingham exhibition centre where you were showing the amazing brand ‘Lucia’. Thus began a business and personal relationship lasting almost thirty years. Our highlight has to be showing your collection at the Dorchester along side Harrods. It was truly amazing. We came to set it up on the morning that we all heard the terrible news that Princess Diana had died. We feared it would be cancelled. It went ahead and the lovely Nanette Newman was the compère . Helen (my daughter) and I stood on the stage feeling so very proud of our lovely business competing with the likes of Harrods. Marianne and all at Lucia were so very generous. We had some amazing fun times over the years and Marianne and Barry came to Helen’s wedding on a beautiful September day in 1999. Marianne kept the party going at the White Lion hotel until they literally ran out of champagne!!! Barry left an everlasting beautiful video of the occasion which we will always treasure. Marianne, I will miss you so much our friendship was very special. You have left behind a wonderful family who I know will treasure your legacy and I wish them all my love at this sad time. Rosemarie xxxx
Marianne, our beloved, inspirational, charismatic, leader of the ‘gang’ - “Here’s to you, the food, the wine Our joyous times together Though darkness came and called your name Your light will shine forever”
Marianne truly was the most fabulous, incredible, joyful, funny, stylish, glamorous and kindest person you could ever meet. A friendship with the Kennedys spanning decades with infinite hilarious memories to look back on and cherish. As a kid the legendary “Gang” parties were something I spied upon in total awe and as an adult Marianne’s exquisite eye for detail and style inspired me no end. As did her love of champagne! Cheers to you darling Marianne. Simply the best. Love from Zoë Kennedy & family 🍾🥂
Memories of Marianne. I was first introduced to Marianne in 1997 when I joined the family retail business, Elizabeth Rose. Seasonal visits to Düsseldorf and Newman Street were always greeted with Marianne’s “best collection ever” mantra!!! Her kindness, generosity and good humour always lit up the room. Her efforts to develop the brand extended behind the showroom with store visits each season to support our events and fashion shows. Marianne kindly joined us at the Drapers annual awards at the Grovenor House Hotel when we successfully picked up an award and in her usual style plenty of champagne was consumed. Her kindness extended beyond our professional association and I remember fondly when James & Marianne joined us at our home in Kent armed with the biggest teddy bears ever seen for my three young children. God bless you, Marianne. May you rest in peace. Never forgotten - Michael & Rebecca Busby
Marianne was the loveliest next door neighbour anyone could have but it was many years before I got to know her and then she became a unique and amazing friend. She spread fabulousness and Veuve Clicquot wherever she went, not least when she plucked up the courage to attend my 50th birthday party in Nicaragua and transformed it into the event of a lifetime which is still talked about to this day. We will all miss you so much Marianne but I’m glad that your suffering did not last longer.
Thank you for setting up this memorial to Marianne. We hope that you find it a positive experience developing the site and that it becomes a place of comfort and inspiration for you to visit whenever you want or need to.
I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
